Hi painters! This video explains the supplies we’ll be using this semester. You can buy them all packed up and ready to go in a kit at the bookstore or on your own through an art supply store. Near the end of the video I discuss the supplies you’ll need right away. Below the video, you’ll find a list of all the supplies needed for the course. You’ll also see a few videos from previous classes at the bottom of the post that go into more depth about the paints, brushes, and mediums. Oil Paints:

200 ml or 37 ml Winton Oil:

  • Ultramarine Blue
  • Cobalt Blue Hue
  • Prussian Blue
  • Cadmium Yellow Hue
  • Lemon Yellow Hue
  • Cadmium Red Hue
  • Alizarin Crimson
  • Burnt Umber
  • Titanium White


  • Liquin or Galkyd
  • Gamsol


  • brights, filberts, sizes 2-12
  • #12 Winton Bright or Flat 

Additional Supplies:

  • Palette knife
  • 11″ x 14″ rectangle palette (you can also use an 18 x 24 sheet of plexiglass)
  • 2-3 glass jars with lids (one 8 to 12 oz. jar and two smaller jars)
  • Sketchbook- Approx. 8.5”x 11” in size (this does not need to be new)
  • Drawing pencils and pens
  • 18” x 24” pad of heavy drawing paper
  • 18” x 24” drawing board w/ clips
